Power Taper, Two Handed "Ready to Go"

Over the years, we have hesitated to venture into producing our Power Taper Heads in fixed lengths/weights mounted with loops. As there are so many meanings about the right length and the right weight for fishing them, we found it better to leave the decision up to the individual angler. In Scandinavia, there is a long tradition in customizing your own shooting heads, but many people new to salmon fishing hesitate to cut a new line and are afraid to ruin it.
As we now, finally decide to make READY-TO-GO heads, it is not at all strange.. Over the years, we have advised thousands of people to the correct length and weight to use, so we have a pretty good idea about what the best general purpose rig should be like.

POWER TAPER ”READY-TO-GO” SHOOTING HEADS
These lines are available in two different models; one short and one longer head. They are exactly the same weight for the same lineweight, but the lengths vay between the two. DISTANCE heads are 37-42 feet and SHORT CUT are 35-38 feet

SHORT CUT
A short head, easy to lift out of the water. It is also a good length when you want a greater angle in your cast, but have obstacles behind you or wade deep in the water. The Short Cut model is the preferred choice for anglers fishing shorter rods or new to twohanded fishing.

DISTANCE
Whenever there is enough space to use a longer head, this one will produce longer and calmer casts. It is also the model that covers more water. For instance, if you fish an LPXe 13’ 8/9, you can choose either a SHORT CUT or a DISTANCE # 8/9 to your rod. The purpose of our system is to make it possible to fish as efficiently as possible during varying conditions. A Distance head works better during certain conditions and a Short Cut during other.

POWER TAPER ”READY-TO-GO” SHOOTING HEAD CODE SYSTEM
Once using our new lines, you want to be able to identify them quick and easy in the shooting head wallet. So we have given the loops different colors for each line weight and the sleeves have received colors identifying them as DISTANCE or SHORT CUT.

Line weight Color on the loop
8/9 ORANGE
9/10 Green
10/11 Blue
Model Color on the sleeve
DISTANCE ORANGE
SHORT CUT

White , Black on the sinking heads.

Power Taper, Two Handed

When Power Taper shooting heads were introduced, more than ten years ago, we proved that a good flyline is capable of making flyfishing and above all, casting a lot more fun, simple and effective.
Suddenly pure beginners managed to get the fly a long way out there and difficult tasks, suddenly became “a piece of cake”.
Experienced flyfishermen just loved it and in no time at all these were the lines on everyone’s lips (and rods as well).
Power Taper has been the model for most shooting heads on the market today, no wonder Power Taper are the most sold shooting heads in the world.
As our DDC lines were introduced a few years ago, sinking line fishing changed forever. Never before, a sinking head has fished and performed better than these do.
POWER TAPER lines just don’t cast well, they are outstanding fishing tools, too. We believe in the flexibility of customizing your heads to suit your needs and casting skills. It simply offers you a better chance of fishing and casting better than ever before.

The unique features of our lines can be summed up like this; the advanced Step Taper profile and the truly magnificent weight distribution in the head, creating energy transfer second to none. We know you will never have experienced anything like that before.
We continuously develop and design flylines for modern flyfishing and as usual, we introduce some exciting news. We think that you will find what you are looking for on the following pages, no matter where, when or how you fish.

All Power Taper heads are 44 feet in length.  The purchaser is able to remove line from the back end to customize the weight and length for the perfect fit to any rod or fishing situation.

PT -DUAL FLOATING

This fantastic floating line with our new LOW PROFILE (LPd) DESIGN generates high line speed and casts almost like an Intermediate. The PT-Dual line is also being called the “Swede-Line” because of the special two tone barred blue and yellow coating that make the line more visible and cool looking.

HOVER / INTERMEDIATE

This is a traditional Intermediate line. It casts like an Intermediate and fishes just below the surface. A great line to cast and fish and perhaps the best we have ever made. Clear Blue Coating with Dacron core.

FLOAT / SINK 1

This is probably the most used Shooting head in Scandinavia, ever. There is probably at least one line in every salmon fisher’s possession, considering the amount of lines we have sold. This is a floating line with 3,5 meters of Sink1 tip. This line will turn over large flies and make modern Speycasting a piece of cake.

FLOAT / SINK 3

This line has three different densities. Floating, intermediate and a Sink 3 tip. The intermediate part acts as an absorber to avoid the hinge that normally occurs between two such different densities as floating and Sink 3. If you want to fish deep and still control the drift. Use a 8´or 10´Super Fast or Extra Super Fast Poly leader. Alternatively, try a long, tapered Fluorocarbon leader and a Tube fly with a Tungsten Cone head and you will fish just as deep as with a traditional Sink 3 or 4.

POWER TAPER DOUBLE DENSITY SINKING SHOOTING HEADS.

These lines entered the market 3 years ago and have changed the sinking line fishing forever. All these lines are easy to lift off the water and they cast better then other comparable lines on the market. Second: they also fish well. Every line has a tip of 5 meters that sinks faster than the rest of the line. It means the fly will be presented at the right depth faster than with conventional sinking lines. The DOUBLE DENSITY lines are the most advanced sinking lines available. Additional density is added to the tip of each line type to ensure that the line sinks with the tip noticeably before the belly. This process prevents ”sagging” caused by the thicker mid-portion sinking more rapidly than the tip, which is common on traditional sinking lines. The DOUBLE DENSITY lines give the angler a better feel for fishing at the right depth and vastly improve the hook-up rate. The lines generate fantastic tight high-speed loops, turning over the leader and make the fly starting to fish instantly. With the right choice of POWER TAPER lines suitable for yourself and the rod, you will be able to fish whenever and wherever you want.

INT / SINK 1

There are many of us among the Guideline crew and others as well that regard this line as the best they have ever used and fished. This line should be in the base outfit of every serious salmon and seatrout angler.

SINK 2 / SINK 3

This is a fast alternative to SINK-1/SINK-2 that casts and fish just as well. Use it in cold and fast water.

SINK 3 / SINK 4

This line will suit most conditions that require a sinking line. Cast wise it is almost cheating to use this line. It will handle large flies with ease and put them down to the fish.

SINK 4 / SINK 5

The S4/5 casts like a spear and sinks like a rock. This line will sink faster than a conventional Sink 4 and save your day when the water is high and cold.

Power Taper DDC Connect, Two Handed

The DDC CONNECTconsists of an 9,5 meter main belly(Float or Fast Intermediate), that can be connected to three different Double Density tips: Int/S1, S2/3, S4/5 on the Floating Belly or Hover, S1/2, S2/3 on the Intermediate Belly.  The reason for choosing an Intermediate main belly is that it carries the tips much better and that it handles wind and bulky flies with ease and the swing speed is much slower with a belly which is below the surface, even a little.  This is an extremely good line to cast and it is easy to pull out of the water for a new cast. Conveniently, it also covers most encountered fishing situations without changing bellies

The main belly of this line is 44.3 feet which is trimmed to get the final length and weight.

Power Taper DDC Connect, Single Handed

For the very first time, we offer our POWER TAPER Heads with interchangeable tips. The DDC CONNECT, consists of an 9,5 meter long, Slow Intermediate main part, that can be connected to three different Double Density tips. Choose from Fast Intermediate, S1/S2 or S2/S3. The reason for choosing a Slow Intermediate main belly is that it carries the tips much better and that it handles wind and bulky flies with ease. This is an extremely good line to cast and it is easy to pull out of the water for a new cast. Conveniently, it also covers most encountered fishing situations, but you have to adjust it to suit your preferences and then also add a leader, but that’s all jus a

The main belly of this line is 9.5 Meters of Intermediate which is trimmed to get the final length and weight.  The front end is looped and connects to one of three 4 meter front ends,  Fast Intermediate, S1/S2 or S2/S3.
