Power Taper, 'Ready to Go'

Over the years, we have hesitated to venture into producing our Power Taper Heads in fixed lengths/weights mounted with loops. As there are so many meanings about the right length and the right weight for fishing them, we found it better to leave the decision up to the individual angler. In Scandinavia, there is a long tradition in customizing your own shooting heads, but many people new to salmon fishing hesitate to cut a new line and are afraid to ruin it.
As we now, finally decide to make READY-TO-GO heads, it is not at all strange.. Over the years, we have advised thousands of people to the correct length and weight to use, so we have a pretty good idea about what the best general purpose rig should be like.

POWER TAPER ”READY-TO-GO” SHOOTING HEADS
These lines are available in two different models; one short and one longer head. They are exactly the same weight for the same lineweight, but the lengths vary between the two. DISTANCE heads are 37-42 feet and SHORT CUT are 35-38 feet

SHORT CUT
A short head, easy to lift out of the water. It is also a good length when you want a greater angle in your cast, but have obstacles behind you or wade deep in the water. The Short Cut model is the preferred choice for anglers fishing shorter rods or new to twohanded fishing.

DISTANCE
Whenever there is enough space to use a longer head, this one will produce longer and calmer casts. It is also the model that covers more water. For instance, if you fish an LPXe 13’ 8/9, you can choose either a SHORT CUT or a DISTANCE # 8/9 to your rod. The purpose of our system is to make it possible to fish as efficiently as possible during varying conditions. A Distance head works better during certain conditions and a Short Cut during other.

POWER TAPER ”READY-TO-GO” SHOOTING HEAD CODE SYSTEM
Once using our new lines, you want to be able to identify them quick and easy in the shooting head wallet. So we have given the loops different colors for each line weight and the sleeves have received colors identifying them as DISTANCE or SHORT CUT.

Line weight Color on the loop
8/9 ORANGE
9/10 Green
10/11 Blue
Model Color on the sleeve

Power Taper, The Original

Our Power Taper Original floating and float/sink shooting heads, continue to sell as well as ever. The noticeable advantages of our F/S lines have made them popular in a multitude of countries and rivers. By popular demand, we now introduce the new Float/Sink 7 line, which will bring your flies even closer to the most hard to get fish in the pools. The advantages of the floating belly make these lines super effective in the way you can control them for speed and depth

FLOAT
A great floating line that generates high line speed and casts like a rocket. It has a unique dual two-tone barred chartreuse and yellow color.

FLOAT/SINK1
This is probably the most used Shooting head in Scandinavia ever. There is probably at least one line in every salmon fisher’s possession. This is the 3rd generation. The line is floating and has a Sink1 tip which is around 3,5 meters in length

FLOAT/SINK3
This is a popular line for medium deep pools and tricky, turbulent currents. The floating part of the line aids in the control of speed and the angle at which the fly is presented to the fish. Fish it with a Tungsten Cone and Fluorocarbon leader and you will dredge deep.

 FLOAT/SINK5 (Streamdip)
An awesome line to cast and fish with! It features a floating belly, with a 4,5 meter, super fast sinking tip-section. This combination has always been a dependable “fish finder” but often hard to cast. Stream Dip makes life easier. It offers great control of speed and depth all in addition, without the annoying hinging effect.

FLOAT/SINK7 - NEW!
Our new F/S7 line will take your fly into the most difficult to reach lies while still allowing good control of the speed and depth through the floating back portion of the line. The F/S7 completes the range with a line that is the ultimate in extreme sink-tips. As on the previous F/S lines in this series, the tip is 4.5m long.

Singlehand heads (SH) is 11,5 meters long. Double hand heads is 13,5 meter long..  The purchaser is able to remove line from the back end to customize the weight and length for the perfect fit to any rod or fishing situation.

Power Taper, Triple Density

Our world-famous, market-leading shooting head concept has undergone its most substantial improvement ever. We’re proud to introduce the new TRIPLE-D concept with advanced taper and density design. These heads will ensure a fishing and casting experience that’s second to none. We challenged our line manufacturer to the limits of technology and beyond, ending up with totally new types of tapers and lines that take sinking line fishing to another dimension. The revolutionary breakthrough lies in the combination of the different densities throughout the line, yet incorporating smooth, continuous transitions between each of the sink rates. This in turn ensures maintained balance in the loop while casting and gives improved depth control through the difference in sink rates along the line.

FLOAT/HOVER/INTERM.
A line for the upper water levels fisherman. The H/I density in the first 2/3’s of the line will position your fly just below the surface if fished with a mono or fluorocarbon leader. The floating back portion of the line will help controlling fly speed as well as making mending and lift-off a lot easier than with a line that is
fully submerged in the water. Available in both single- and double hand version.

HOVER/SINK1/SINK3
Lets you fish your flies in the mid-water range with full control of the speed throughout the swing, due to the more buoyant Hover back end. This will also ensure that you can fish your fly to the dangle without annoying snags midway into the line when the current speed drops during the end of the swing. Available in both single- and double hand version.

INTERMEDIATE/SINK2/SINK4
Possibly the most versatile line in the range. A favorite among our testers, both for its great casting performance, as for the way this line fishes in the water. Gives you a feeling of hitting a depth that will be putting the fly within perfect reach of an aggressive salmon during fishing in many varied pool structures. Available in both single- and double hand version.

SINK1/SINK3/SINK5
Fishing harder, stronger flowing rivers or trying to get the fly down that bit extra in a medium deep pool? This line will do the job and has also proven itself to be a really easy one to cast, both for accuracy and distance. Should be one of your main lines in the shooting head wallet. Versatile in a multitude of situations. Available in both single- and double hand version.

SINK2/SINK4/SINK6
Heading into the deep water fishing range, the unique Triple Density construction will bring the front of this line right down to the fish, while the back end will balance the line and make it easier to handle both during the cast, during fishing and during the lift-off from the water. It really does help eliminating snags in the later part of the drift to, due to the steeper sinking angle of the line. Available in both single- and double hand version.

SINK3/SINK5/SINK7
This is fast sinking... With features like the above line, the S3/5/7 sinks at a good angle and takes you fly down deep for those hard to get fish. The beauty is that it will still be manageable to cast, due to the unique taper and balance of the S5/7 portion in the line. This is line manufacturing at its best and the slim profile combined with the high density will make this baby sink as a brick. Available in double hand only.

DDC Connect

The DDC CONNECTconsists of an 9,5 meter main belly(Float, Fast Intermediate or SInk2/3), that can be connected to three different Double Density Belly tips:

Float, Int/S1, S2/3 on the Floating Belly

Hover, S1/2, S2/3 on the Intermediate Belly.

The reason for choosing an Intermediate main belly is that it carries the tips much better and that it handles wind and bulky flies with ease and the swing speed is much slower with a belly which is below the surface, even a little.  This is an extremely good line to cast and it is easy to pull out of the water for a new cast. Conveniently, it also covers most encountered fishing situations without changing bellies

The raw length of the belly/belly tip of this line is 44(DH) or 38(SH) feet which is trimmed to get the final length and weight.

SALAR Soft Spool

Shooting head system
Practical system to store your Shooting Heads and keep track of your different lines. The ability to quickly change the density of your line or shooting head in order to effectively fish a lie, is often more crucial than changing the fly. The spools come in five different colors to make it easier to systemize your POWER TAPER Shooting Heads. The spools are made from a special, high-density neoprene that is extremely lightweight, yet strong. You can easily keep a few of these spools in your wading jacket, without feeling bulky or too heavy.
