Prawn Shellback

Flexicord Light in pearl is the perfect shellback material.  The pearl color reflects whatever colors are going on in the pattern without being garish.  Priced per yard and available in 3 widths.

FireLine

Used to form a loop to attach the Owner hooks to the rear of the shank.  FireLine has the stifness required to help keep the hook from fouling with the long tails on these patterns.
I use 20# on 15 and 20mm, 30# on 55, 45 and 35mm, and either one depending on the hooks size for 25mm.  The 30# is stiffer but will not fit through size 6 or 8 Owner hooks.

Steelhead Anglers Glimmer Body

This is a wonderful product which I import from Italy.  The core is a dyed and barided rope but it is much smaller than on Estaz.  The fibers are more spread out than Estaz and are a full 3/4" long which creates a body with literally no mass but a big profile.  In other words you can create a big body that will cast well.  This material ends up looking like little fiber optics placed on the body  The result is not gaudy but is very naturally iridescent.  If you don't love this when you use it I will give you your money back.

Estaz

I use this for the bodies on my Waddington Prawns.  It does not build too much bulk or weight and allows the fly to sparkle but sink and stay down.  Priced per 3 yards

Waddington Double Shanks

The fly is tied on the shank over a loop which trails to loop over the hook.  These 55mm weigh in at over a gram and a half each and sink very well with no additional weight.

  • 55mm = 70mm or 2.75" eye to eye
  • 45mm = 60mm or 2.25" eye to eye
  • 35mm = 47mm or 1.8" eye to eye
  • 25mm = 36mm or 1.4" eye to eye
  • 20mm = 28mm or 1.1" eye to eye
  • 15mm = 23mm or .95" eye to eye

Mixed size package contains even number of each size

Grizzly Saddle

These are the long, barred feathers you need trailing back from the front of the Intruder style flies.

Half a dyed saddle patch, about 100 feathers

Lady Amherst Tail Sections

2 4-5" sections of Lady Amherst Tail feathers, dyed or natural.  The amount of natural irridescent glow in these feathers is unbelievable!  Even after the dye they glow like crazy.

Hourglass Eyes

hourglass eyes.  Perfect for adding a little or a lot of weight to big patterns.  The 5/32" make flies which sink a little.  The 7/32 are the big boys and sink like a stone.  The 1/8" are perfect on 25mm shanks
Priced per 25, available in black chrome, gold or nickel

Rhea Spey Hackle

Spey Hackles from the Rhea.  The web has a similar texture to our Spey hackle but is slightly finer in texture.  The feathers offer 3" to 7" fiber length.

These fibers are also awesome for feelers on Prawn patterns and topping on tube flies.

Each feather will tie a multiple of different fly sizes from 1/0 to 5/0.  To achieve maximum utilization each feather must be taken individually.  The feathers that have thin supple tips are ready to use as is.  To use the remaining length of the feather soak in room temperature tap water and strip the feather, peeling a thin layer of the quill with the barbs attached.  This is accomplished by holding the top of the feather in one hand and grasping half a dozen fibers in the other and pulling down the feather forming a strip that peels off the shaft.  Web that remains or comes loose may be used to tie in in clumps.

Boar Bristles

Boar Brisitles for Shrimp Flies like the pot Bellied Pig.  The Bristles are 3-5" long and come 1 gram in a package.  That is a lot of bristles.

Fluoro-Fibre

A fluorescent microfiber which makes any fly "light up" in the water. Fluoro Fibre has fiber optic properties which helps it to gather light and "glow" in the underwater environment, so that fish can see it.
This is the material for making the red hot butts and tails on the Scandinavian patterns
