Silk-Berlin Wool

Classic Spey flies call for Berlin Wool, which was a fienly spun wool yarn originating from Merlino Sheep of Spanish descent which were dyed and processed in Germany.

This is the same Merlino Wool from Northern Spain processed in Switzerland and brought to you by Steelhead Anglers.  The new twist is 50% silk added for strength and shimmer.  This is the stuff Spey bodies are made of.

Giorgio Benecchi Ultrafine 12/0 Thread

This thread is size 12/0 but is as strong as any 6/0 thread you can show me.  If you want to tie sturdy flies without creating bulk this is the way to go.  Unwaxed and twisted from three strands this is perfect Spey and Salmon fly thread as it lays flat.
